250 students reading below grade level - Literacy Center needs volunteer tutors

       Citing a current wait-list of of "nearly 250 students who are reading below grade level," the Children's Literacy Center is seeking volunteers for one-to-one tutoring.
       Tutors can be as young as 14 years old. Training is provided through the center's Peak Reader curriculum. Each tutor works with one child for two hours a week.
       The program is aimed at helping children having reading problems in grades 1 through 6.
       The Children's Literacy Center is a statewide nonproft organization, founded in Colorado Springs in 1991 and headquartered at 2928 Straus Lane, Suite 100.
