'Celebration of life' for Don Ellis Dec. 8 at Old Colorado City History Center

Nov. 28, 2018
A “celebration of life" service for the late Don Ellis is scheduled Saturday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m at the Old Colorado City History Center, 1 S. 24th St.
Including words from Ellis' family pastor, the event is free and open to the public.
Ellis, 78, died of cancer Nov. 9. There was a private cremation ceremony. His wife Merle survives him.
A historian, non-fiction author and outdoors advocate, Ellis had been active for many years with the Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS), the volunteer organization that owns and operates the History Center - including editing its newsletter for the past 10 years.
He is also widely credited for playing a major role in the city purchasing Red Rock Canyon as open space in 2003.
Ellis' obituary in the Westside Pioneer can be found at this link.
For more information on the Dec. 8 service, call the History Center at 636-1225.
