Westside events from Oct. 13 to 31 include fossils, pumpkins, trick-or-treat

       The busy event season of September and October wraps up with the capsulized list below for the last half of October.
Open on summer Saturdays starting in early June, the Farmers Market in Bancroft Park will conclude this year Saturday, Oct. 20, as will the simultaneous crafters fair at the Old Colorado City History Center on the other side of 24th Street.

       Oct. 13 - Fossil Day. Inspired by a dinosaur whose bones have been found only in the area of the Garden of the Gods. The GoG Visitor & Nature Center offers presentations, activities and fossil identification. Free.
       Oct. 13 - Gold Hill Mesa's Fall Harvest Festival - live music, children's activities and vendors in the Westside residential development's community center.
      Oct. 20 - Giant Pumpkin Festival. A weigh-off of some of the state's biggest pumpkins, plus other Old Town activities, sponsored by the Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) business group. Free.
       Saturdays through Oct. 20 - Farmers Market and Old Colorado City Historical Society craft fair. Free attendance.
       Oct. 31 - Safe Treats. Old Colorado City merchants welcome trick-or-treaters to their stores; also, activities in Old Town Plaza. Free.
