Old Colorado City History Center hosts talk Sept. 8, book 'launch' Sept. 10

Events featuring local historians are coming up Sept. 8 and 10 at the Old Colorado City History Center, 1 S. 24th St.
       The center is owned and operated by the Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS), a volunteer nonprofit organization.
       The events will be:
       - Friday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. - "Young Boys in the Civil War," presented by Benny Nasser. He has researched the "remarkably youthful" soldiers who fought for both the North and South and will tell their "amazing stories," according to OCCHS-provided information.
       The cost is $5 for non-members of the OCCHS.
       - Sunday, Sept. 10, at 1:30 p.m., the launch event for John Anderson's second book, titled "Rankin Scott Kelly, 1st Sheriff of Old Paso County." He will also be present to answer questions and sign copies of the book, which tells about the heroic 1860s law officer and the "surprising outcome of his personal life," the OCCHS information states.
       Admission is free.
