Local musical organization recruiting experienced players, especially on strings

Now in its 13th year, the New Horizons Band of Colorado Springs has begun its fall recruitment effort.
The local organization, headed by conductor Ed Nuccio and his wife Mary, consists of several types of musical groups. New this year, depending on interest levels, could be an all-string group, according to a press release.
In general, the Nuccios are looking for adult musicians “wanting to resume their playing or continue playing their musical instrument (but in a different band setting),” the release states. A fee is charged to be a band member.
One of the current bands, the Intermediates, practices Monday and Wednesday from 8:45 to 10:45 a.m. at First Evangelical Free Church, 820 N. 30th St. New Horizons groups have also performed in the past at the church and other locations on the Westside.
