Public meeting July 12 on playground plan for Westside Community Center A public meeting is scheduled Wednesday, July 12 to discuss a replacement playground at the Westside Community Center.Scheduled by Jake Butterfield, who leads the playground inspection program for Colorado Springs Parks, the session is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The center is at 1628 W. Bijou St. Butterfield said the meeting is to get people's ideas about designs and colors for the new playground. In late April, Parks employees removed the old playground, with Butterfield stating that a new playground would be installed at the end of June. According to several reports, the previous playground equipment had largely resulted from a fundraising effort in 1995 by school staff (the site was then Buena Vista Elementary), student families and the surrounding neighborhood.
