Dance by African-American Society at Westside Community Center June 15 June 1, 2018A Father-Daughter & Mother-Son Dance will be sponsored by the African-American Historical & Genealogical Society of Colorado Springs Friday, June 15 at the Westside Community Center, 1628 W. Bijou St. The event will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per couple (in advance) or $25 at the door. Museum curator Candice McKnight started the Genealogical Society in 2000 and in 2005 merged it with the Negro Historical Association, which had been founded in 1981. The museum, located in the Community Center's middle building, provides displays and 200-some books about black history, Normal museum hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 385-7920 ext. 202, or e-mail aahgscs@aol.com.
