New event, 'Old Colorado City in Bloom,' to spotlight local artists May 12

April 27, 2018
A new event to spotlight Old Colorado City's art scene is scheduled Saturday, May 12.
Called “Old Colorado City in Bloom,” it will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Featured will be art demonstrations - outside if the weather allows it - at 12 galleries/stores in the historic shopping district along Colorado Avenue between 24th and 27th streets.
The sponsoring entity is the Old Colorado City Associates (OCCA) business group.
Most of the participating businesses also are part of Old Town's monthly, First Friday ArtWalk, which is in its 13th year of putting local art before the public.
The “Bloom” format will be similar - free of charge, and the public can visit places they like in a self-guided manner.
Sharon Wolff, owner of Hunter-Wolff Gallery, who organizes the OCC ArtWalk, expressed delight at being part of the new event. “Old Colorado City In Bloom is the perfect time and place to gather with friends and family to enjoy spring's beauty, learn about art and refresh your soul,” she said.
She also announced that she will have two artists demonstrating: painter Justin Clements and sculptor Cassandra Sharon.
