Intro to summer Discovery Center offerings in Space Foundation's Star Days May 1&3

The Space Foundation will offer an early look Thursday, May 1 and Saturday, May 3 at Star Days themes planned for its 10-week “Summer of Discovery.”
Those themes are Oceans; Astronomy; Mars, Rovers and Robots; Rocketry; and A Taste of Space Technology. Each will be in the spotlight for two weeks between June 10 and Aug. 16 at the Discovery Center inside the Space Foundation, 4425 Arrowswest Drive off Garden of the Gods Road.
“The May "Star Days" activities will sample the larger-scale events planned for Summer of Discovery, with a variety of hands-on learning, crafts and games,” a press release states.
Normal Discovery Center days/times are Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The time range May 1 will be extended to 7 p.m., with the Star Days/Summer of Discovery theme activities starting at 5.
Star Days will continue as the focus May 3 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Discovery Center also includes the Northrop Grumman Science Center, the El Pomar Space Gallery of space artifacts and interactive displays and Science on a Sphere videos. Cost of admission is $9 for adults, with reduced prices for seniors, military, students and children.
The Space Foundation is a non-profit advocate for space exploration and technology, which has created the Discovery Center as an educational attraction. For more information, call 576-8000 or go to spacefoundation.org.
