Temp rehab/assisted living facility off Fillmore nears opening, offering tours
Construction was recently completed on the Health Care Resort of Colorado Springs, at 2818 Grand Vista Circle (off Fillmore Street, across from Coronado High School). A sign out front offers the tours. The two-story, 82,000-square-foot structure will have a total of 125 beds (97 short-term physical rehabilitation on the first floor and 28 assisted living on the second floor). Amenities include high-ceiling rooms with personal bathrooms, dining areas intended to look more like restaurants than cafeterias, plus areas for exercise, therapy, classes and even putting practice. “We love the hospitality vision of what we do,” said CEO Royal Jensen, who relocated from Idaho to take on his position. “We want our guests to have a unique experience when they come to stay with us.” This attitude extends to the families of people staying at the resort. “We make sure families feel welcomed,” Jensen added. “We have space
With finish-up work still being completed, he hopes the doors can open by April, with a grand-opening event at some point. Built over the past year and a half, HCR is under the Ensign Group, a national company that provides a “broad spectrum” of human services in 13 states, according to its website. The facility sits on 7.6 acres at the southwest corner of Fillmore and Grande Vista. The access is from Grand Vista Circle. The site is part of a 45-acre development south of Fillmore between Grand Vista and Mesa Road called Sentinel Ridge. Based on Sentinel Ridge's concept plan, the rest of the acreage will have homes (single-family and multi-family), a church (at the southeast corner of Fillmore and Mesa), and 13 acres of open space.
