Next Hwy 24 meeting Jan. 26

The next Colorado Department of Transporta-tion (CDOT) meeting on Westside Highway 24 will be Thursday, Jan. 26.
       The times will be 5 to 8 p.m. in the West Intergener-ational Center, 25 N. 20th St.
Details are still being worked out, but the plan is to present more information on why CDOT believes either a six-lane freeway or expanded expressway is needed to handle future traffic in the 6.5-mile stretch of Highway 24 between I-25 and the first Manitou Springs exit, project spokes-person Kyle Blakely said. These alternatives, along with an option of not doing the project, were presented at the last meeting Nov. 3.
The format will be the same this time - an open house where people can drop in anytime, view information boards and talk to CDOT staff or consultants, Blakely said.
The public process, which started in late 2004, is part of the CDOT effort to eventually create an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that would be used for construction.
