Biz buzz:
Farm Crest manager honored
Cecie Weldon has been named manager of the year for the Farm Crest stores in Colorado. She has been manager of the Farm
Crest at 21st Street and Colorado Avenue for six years.
The prize is a week in the Cayman Islands with her husband. “I'm pretty excited,” she said, adding half-jokingly, “I've never been anywhere before.” To gain the honor, Weldon's store had to score highly in a number of evaluated categories, including sales, financial audits, employee turnover, cleanliness and control of thievery. The store has gained particular renown within the company for preventing drive-offs from the gas pumps. The trick, according to Weldon, is writing down the license plate of every car that buys gas. That way, motorists that drive off without paying can be (and are) tracked down, she said. Weldon was previously a company supervisor, but has no wish to go back to that role. “I like my job, and I love my customers,” she said. Calabash is the name of a new arts-oriented shop at 2428 W.
