Meet a Westsider:
Charlie Paterson

Profession/Occupation... Holding my construction business together.

What I like most about the Westside is... the diversity, the history and that I can walk to Pike National Forest.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to make “no man’s land” pedestrian friendly.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... the traveling show from the Telluride Mountain Film Festival – when it comes to movies, my experience is very limited.

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... just about anything one of my outdoor sports buddies tells me to do.

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... TARZAN – of course! I’d like to try to convince him to run for governor...

The next time I travel, I’m going to... probably to Minneapolis or Seattle to see one of my daughters and family – I wish one of them would move to Kathmandu.

My favorite childhood memory is... getting lost overnight with my aunt in the mountains west of Denver. She made it seem like fun.

My favorite winter pastime is... trying to get out into the back country on skis or snowshoes.

Something good I’ve read is.. “People of the Valley,” by Frank Waters.

My pet peeve is... whiners – mainly because it’s such a great word.

If I won the lottery, I’d... there’s a slew of local non-profits that could use a boost (well, and that new mountain bike I’ve been wanting for how many years?). And a huge statue of Doug Bruce for the middle of the intersection of 8th Street and Highway 24.

Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776.
