Library steps still awaiting right-size sandstone

The Old Colorado City Library remains two steps short of reopening its main entrance.
Library Manager Julianne Rist had no new prediction this week for when the steps would be completed.
The entrance has been closed since July to allow sandstone steps to be installed as part of the 101-year-old Carnegie Library's ongoing restoration project. The project was to take a couple of weeks; however, repeated problems have arisen, including cracked or wrong-sized stones.
Currently, all but two steps have received the necessary sandstone layers. Rist said that a search is currently taking place at a sandstone quarry to find the right-size stones to complete the job.
Sandstone is being used to match the library's original steps.
