What do you do?
Colette Monat

Where do you work and what is your title?
My business is Healing Hypnosis Life Transforming Hypnotherapy. I am a former teacher with a masters degree and I am also a certified nutritionist and hypnotherapist.
What do you do there and/or what are you responsible for?
I help facilitate changes in people’s lives through Reiki and hypnotherapy.
How long have you been doing this kind of work (total)? How long on the Westside?
I’ve had my business for 15 years. However, I’ve practiced much longer than that. I’ve been on the Westside for almost two years.
What do you like best about it (other than quitting time)?
The wonderful people that I get to meet and help. I enjoy seeing the transformation in people when they make the decision to seek my help in improving their lives and changing habits that they want to shed.
If you could change one thing (other than pay), what would it be?
To have a chance to work with more people in affirming their choice for positive changes in their lives.
What part of your work did your training/education never prepare you for?
It didn’t prepare me for the diversity of people that I get to meet. I look at working with people as a privilege. I’ve been told that I’m a person they can trust and that I help them feel more at ease.
What makes working on the Westside special?
I’m from a town of 500 in South Dakota, and the Westside feels like home to me. Because people are friendly, it doesn’t seem like a big city. There’s a small-town feel here.

“What do you do?” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you know someone who has an interesting job on the Westside (but doesn’t live here), he/she might be a candidate for this column! If you know someone who might qualify, give us a call at 471-6776.
