What do you do?
Lori Daugherty

Where do you work and what is your title?
I am the co-owner of Olde Towne Optical and Gifts, a concept store combining unique gifts and eyeglasses.
What do you do there and/or what are you responsible for?
I am the bookkeeper and manage the gift department. Our gifts include our own designs in jewelry, stained glass, floral arrangements, dreamcatchers, Christmas ornaments, and bird houses.
How long have you been doing this kind of work (total)? How long on the Westside?
I have been in the arts and crafts since childhood, retail for 10 years, and banking and bookkeeping for 30 years. My husband and I opened our store two years ago and are preparing for our third Christmas season on the Westside.
What do you like best about it (other than quitting time)?
Being my own boss, and helping bring a much needed service to the Westside.
If you could change one thing (other than pay), what would it be?
I would like to spend less time on paperwork and more time creating artwork.
What makes working on the Westside special?
It’s a different world on the Westside, with its old-town charm, friendly people and a more relaxed atmosphere. We are very grateful to Westsiders for their support of our business, and we plan to be here for a long time.

“What do you do?” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you know someone who has an interesting job on the Westside (but doesn’t live here), he/she might be a candidate for this column! If you know someone who might qualify, give us a call at 471-6776.
