What do you do?
Steven Brown

Where do you work and what is your title?
I am the owner of Good Faith Financial. My second full- time job is chief of the Mountain Communities Volunteer Fire Department. This job pays six figures and they are all zero.
What do you do there and/or what are you responsible for?
Mortgage lending. We seek out the lowest fees and rates available so that buying a house or refinancing becomes an enjoyable experience. My company was founded on my life experiences of 25 years in the lending industry. Many of those experiences included major corporations taking advantage of customers.
How long have you been doing this kind of work (total)? How long on the Westside?
I started in the finance industry in 1978. I have been on the Westside for five years.
What do you like best about it (other than quitting time)?
The most enjoyable aspect is the personality of the customers. Every customer’s situation is different and deserves the trust and respect of a qualified mortgage professional.
If you could change one thing (other than pay), what would it be?
The paperwork in this industry dictates that customers become nervous. I would change the amount of paperwork necessary to qualify for a loan. I would allow people who chose to smoke to smoke at the closing table.
What makes working on the Westside special?
I enjoy Colorado Springs, but the Westside residents are some of the friendliest people in Colorado. I enjoy the diversity of the Westside.

“What do you do?” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you know someone who has an interesting job on the Westside (but doesn’t live here), he/she might be a candidate for this column! If you know someone who might qualify, give us a call at 471-6776.
