Old Colorado City business celebrates 20 years in historic shopping district
Bob Lantzy, the franchise owner since early 2014, is marking the occasion with an all-day celebration event Saturday, Nov. 12. Activities will include product discounts, he said. The shop is located at 2616 W. Colorado Ave., #9, in the Old Colorado Square commercial center (which includes Jake & Telly's restaurant). Based in the city of Parker, Mountain Man stores are located primarily in Colorado. Offerings include natural and roasted nuts, dried fruit, trail mixes and snack mixes, homemade chocolates, jerky, salt water taffy and candy. Non-edibles include stuffed animals, cards and wood carvings. Theresa Barbera, who owned the Old Colorado City store from 1998 to 2014, still works there part-time. She had bought the business from the person who started it in OCC in 1996. She said she still likes the creativity of making the store's decorative baskets, which comprise various products. Formerly an information technology project manager, Lantzy took on the franchise ownership in a quest for “something different,” he said. “The product line is good, and I like how the company takes care of its distributors and store owners.” For more information, call 635-9880 or e-mail boblantzy@aol.com.
