Meet a Westsider:
George Gravenstein
Profession/Occupation... retired salesman 40 years. Now I volunteer (I’m president of the Mesa Springs Community Association).
What I like most about the Westside is... it is quiet, close to friendly shopping and there are lots of fun outdoor type things to do. Like Old Colorado City, Manitou and mountain trails. If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... It’s pretty good just as it is, but I would like to see more young families move here. A good movie I’ve seen recently is... My favorite movies are old John Wayne. I watch them over and over. The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... “Don’t make waves.” If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Well, John Wayne, of course. The next time I travel, I’m going to... probably California. My son and family live there and we go once or twice a year. We went this summer to see one granddaughter married, and I think another will be getting married next year... My favorite childhood memory is... listening to Bible stories from my grandfather and Sunday dinners... fried chicken, corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes and cobbler for dessert. My favorite summer pastime is... hiking in the mountains, driving the back road to Cripple Creek to see the aspens turn, and working in my yard. Something good I’ve read is.. anything by John Grisham, John Sandford, Lawrence Sanders or Michael Crichton. My pet peeve is... telemarketers and people talking on cell phones in public especially while they are driving or in the market. If I won the lottery, I’d... This is one question my wife asks me all the time, and the chances are so slim that I never think about it. I’d have to buy a ticket first! Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776. |
