Perhaps pondering the properties of pavement

       Leonardo Da Vinci appears to emerge from the pavement in this chalk drawing Westside artist Douglas Rouse created for a sidewalk-art competition in San Diego, Calif., last weekend. He signed it backwards in honor of the painting subject. “Da Vinci used to write that way on his drawings and studies,” Rouse explained. “It is believed he did that so it would be harder to decipher his ideas.”
