Fatal traffic accident at 26th & Hwy 24

       A fatal traffic accident at 26th Street resulted in westbound Highway 24 being closed between 21st and 31st streets for 5 ½ hours Oct. 3.
       The accident occurred just before 4 p.m., according to police. A 67-year-old woman was killed. She was a passenger in an eastbound Toytota Rav4 that had been turning left at the light to go north on 26th Street. The car was broadsided by a Pontiac Grand Am traveling west.
       The woman's husband (who was driving) and the driver of the Grand Am were injured but not critically, a police report stated.
       The cause of the accident was undetermined as of press deadline, and no charges had yet been filed.
