Sacred Heart holding Katrina-related pancake breakfast
All over America this year, young people were saving up money and looking forward to going to the National Catholic Youth
Conference in Atlanta, Ga.
About 600 of these kids were from the Gulf Coast - a number that has been greatly reduced by Hurricane Katrina. So the area diocese of the Catholic Church has challenged each of its parishes to raise $500 to send one of those kids to the conference. An outcome of that challenge will occur in the parish center of the Westside's Sacred Heart Church, 2021 W. Pikes Peak Ave., Sunday, Oct. 2., at a Pancake Breakfast from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Donations will be asked from those who attend. Food will include pancakes, sausage, bacon, orange juice and coffee, according to a parish spokesperson. From a press release |
