Cancer awareness run starts, ends on Westside Oct. 1
Women on Wheels, an area motorcyle club, will sponsor its fifth annual Breast Cancer Awareness Run Saturday, Oct. 1,
starting and ending at restaurants on the Westside.
Last year's ride numbered close to 100 participants, with 150 hoped for this year, according to Karla Bumann, of Women on Wheels. Money is raised from a $10 donation per rider and people buying tickets for a chance drawing, said Bumann, who often rides to her job at Agilent Technologies with a laptop strapped to her motorcycle. This year's route starts from Western Omelette, 16 S. Walnut St., and loops about 100 miles around Colorado Springs before ending at Howard's Pit BBQ at 3350 N. Chestnut St. A prize also goes to the rider(s) who do the best job answering questions about what they saw on different segments of the trek, she said. For more information, call 573-9242.
