Annual Penrose Center waste collection ended

El Paso County's annual, one-day household chemical waste collection, previously held at the Penrose Equestrian Center in September, has been discontinued
The change is part of an effort to streamline county environmental services. This includes encouraging residents to transport their household chemical waste to the free county collection facility on Markfsheffel Road, according to county spokesperson Bailey Becker.
County figures show it costs more than twice per vehicle for the one-day Penrose collection than it does at the Permanent Household Chemical Waste Collection Facility at 3470 N. Marksheffel Road. This facility is open year-round, by appointment only. For more information, call 520-7878.
