‘Harvest moon’ hike at Red Rock
The Catamount Institute will host an “Under the Harvest Moon” hike Saturday, Sept. 17 from 6:30 to 9 pm at Red Rock
Canyon Open Space. “Although access to the public is normally restricted at night, the city has granted special permission for
this rare opportunity,” according to a press release
Trail guides will be Red Rock Canyon historian Don Ellis and Catamount educator Kevin Snyder. Traditionally the Harvest Moon is the full moon that occurs closest to the Fall Equinox and provides an extra 30 minutes of light - thus its value to farmers at harvest time. Cost for the hike is $3. Pre-registration is necessary at 471-0910 ext.105, or by emailing programs@catamountinstitute.org. The Catamount Institute is a non-profit ecology organization, headquartered at the Beidleman Nature Center. From a press release |
