Meet a Westsider:
Karen Hall
Profession/Occupation...
owner with R.N. Catron of Secret Totem Gallery on Uintah Street. I also work part-time at Soap Box & More on Colorado Avenue.
What I like most about the Westside is... the small-town feel, friendly people, and the lovely scenery. If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to have traffic slow down. The drivers will get to their destination a minute later and safer if they do. A good movie I’ve seen recently is... not so new, but I loved “The Waking of Ned Devine.” It’s a fine example of British acting, plus Irish humor. I'd like to discover... a way to make people understand the real need to be kinder to the planet and everything on her and to stop the greed. If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Maya Angelou, a fine poet, author and humanitarian. A woman who has lived life and as a result is rich in wisdom. The next time I travel, I’m going to... Santa Fe, New Mexico, to see all the art it affords. My favorite childhood memory is... playing on the rocky shores of Dunoon and the Ayrshire Coast in my home in Scotland. My favorite summer pastime is... building outdoor sculptures and working in my yard. Something good I’ve read is.. I enjoy biographies and murder mysteries. Patricia Cornwell and Kathy Reichs are two authors that I like. My pet peeve is... skateboards and bicycles on the sidewalks of Colorado Avenue. If I didn’t have to work for a year I would... paint, build sculptures and play with my pottery wheel. Lots of hiking, too. Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776. |
