Filly name winner delayed a week
The announcement of a winner in the Westside Pioneer's foal-naming contest has been delayed till next issue. The reason is that
the contest was advertised (through circumstances beyond this newspaper's control) in another venue. As a result, about 15
entries have materialized in addition to roughly the same number responding to the contest promotions that have appeared in the
Pioneer the last two weeks.
Nonetheless, the announced July 25 cut-off date was observed, so no more entries were accepted after that date. The McGinty family (which owns the young filly) plans to choose a name this weekend from those that were submitted. We expect to announce the name and the winner - who will receive two free trail-ride certificates - in our Aug. 4 issue.
