Soldiering of late 1800s brought to life

A demonstration by the A-Troop 10th U.S. Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers entertained visitors to Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site July 24. RIGHT: The soldiers act out a typical scenario in which their officer tells them about a report that's been received describing enemy forces in the area. BOTTOM RIGHT: The soldiers perform a drill. A-Troop, 10th U.S. Cavalry was reorganized on 26 September 2002. The Buffalo Soldiers (black men commanded by white officers) were part of the U.S. Army troops in the West from 1866 to 1891.

According to a press release, "Through living history demonstrations, A-Troop is proud to continue the tradition of the Buffalo Soldiers and to inform present day people about their untold legacy."
