Name that Foal!
Chance to win two trail-ride certificates

It's not every day a citizen can "beat" city hall. Westsiders T.J. and Sue McGinty could make that claim (but won't) after convincing Colorado Springs City Council last May to let them and their daughter, Kelsey, 13, continue walking their horses up to Promontory Point Open Space. Grateful about the way numerous locals supported them and mindful that their cause represented the Westside's historic "horsiness," the McGintys are asking for Westsiders' help in naming their new filly, born June 19. "We thought it would be kind of fun since the community was so involved in helping solve this problem," T.J. McGinty said. The winning name will receive two one-hour trail-ride gift certificates to the West-side's Aca-demy Rid-ing Stables - a total value of $69. The cut-off date for entries will be Monday, July 25. Send your suggestions to the Westside Pioneer at 526 S. 26th St., or e-mail us (subject line: "McGinty foal") at ap@westsidepioneer.com. Please include your name and phone number.
