Blues series returns to Bancroft Park July 12

       The annual “Paint the Town Blue” summer blues series in Old Colorado City's Bancroft Park will start Thursday, July 12 and continue weekly through Aug. 23.
       The times are 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with Jives Coffee Lounge, 16 Colbrunn Ct., as the fallback site in case of rain.
       There is no charge. People are welcome to bring blankets or chairs.
       The series has been organized by the volunteer Pikes Peak Blues Community (PPBC) since 2003, moving the concerts to Old Colorado City in 2006.
       The shows feature area bands specializing in blues music. The park venue is “family-friendly and pet-friendly, and we've got a great lineup of bands this year,” said PPBC President Brenda Knight.
       The schedule is as follows:
  • July 12, Adam and Stilwagen.
  • July 19, Brickyard.
  • July 26, D-Day Invasion.
  • Aug 2, Westside Rhythm Kings.
  • Aug 9, Delta Sonics.
  • Aug 16, 99%.
  • Aug 23, All-star Jam.
