‘Abe’ ready for July 4 at Rock Ledge

Westsider Merell Folsom is looking forward to being Abe Lincoln again.
Reading the Civil War president's famous Gettysburg Address, he will be among several enactors at the “Old-fashioned Family Fourth of July” Monday, July 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site.
“I shave my mustache and whiten my beard,” Folsom said of his preparations. “And the kids stand there and get their picture taken with Abe.”
A retired high school teacher who has been enacting Lincoln since the 1980s, Folsom will give his reading at 2:30 p.m. at the old cabin.
Also scheduled are carnival games in the barn, wagon rides, blacksmith demonstrations and patriotic music by the Fountain Creek Brass Band.
