‘Mineral Treasures’; Peak Ballet Theatre move
"Mineral Treasures of Colorado" is the title of an exhibit at the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center this
summer that features gems recovered from historic mines around the state of Colorado.
Included are red Rhodochrosite crystals from the Sweet Home Mine in Alma, blue amazonite crystal specimens from the Crystal Peak District in Park and Teller Counties and specimens of gold, silver, quartz, fluorite, rhodochrosite, and other minerals from the San Juan Mountains. The center is off 30th Street and Gateway Road, across from the Garden of the Gods. The Peak Ballet Theatre expects to move from the Westside to the Cheyenne area this summer. According to a theatre member, the professional company and school hopes to complete its move to the former World Gym facility on South Eighth Street in July. The 6,000-square-foot space is being rebuilt to house three studios, each with state-of-the-art sprung floors. The theatre, whose professional company features internationally experienced dancers, formed five years ago and has been situated at 2228 W. Pikes Peak Ave. for the past three years. Linda-Marie Crespo, a licensed clinical aesthetician since 1998, recently opened her business, Morning Glory Face & Body, at 1824 W. Colorado Ave. Services include skin analysis, facials (anti-aging & acne treatments), brow design & tinting, waxing, hand treatment and massage of the neck, shoulders and chest. She has worked in doctors' offices and more recently at the Garden of the Gods Club. Hours are by appointment only. The phone is 228-4169. West Side Tattoo recently opened its doors at 2031 W. Colorado Ave. The owners are brothers Brian and Aaron Moore, who worked seven previous years on the Westside at another tattoo business. Offering a variety of styles, Westside Tattoo features four tattoo artists and one body piercer. The business will be open Tuesday through Saturday. The phone is 219-4800. The Elements Art Gallery - Alicia Griggs Studio has started business in the Old Colorado Square, 2616 W. Colorado Ave. #1. Open daily except Tuesday, the gallery features 12 Colorado artists, including Griggs, who specializes in multimedia. The phone is 633-3899. Allstate Insurance Company agent Rick Gardner recently opened an office at 3246 Centennial Blvd., in Grandview Market Square.
