Meet a Westsider:
Betty C. Hill
Profession/Occupation... I’m a seamstress. I retired from Hewlett Packard. I was 2nd shift supervisor in the printed circuit department.
What I like most about the Westside is... I wouldn’t live anywhere else. It’s a comfortable place to live. Banks, cleaners and stores are only a few blocks from home, so it’s very convenient. If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... I wish there were fabrics stores close by. We used to have Cloth World at Uintah Gardens. A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “O Brother, where Art Thou?” I especially liked the music, and George Clooney is such a character. The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... to stop working and sit in a rocking chair. I didn’t listen to the advice. I’ll never stop working. If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... all the Major League baseball players at the All Star baseball game. The next time I travel, I’m going to... Seaside, Oregon, for a family reunion – at least 50 relatives will be there. We’re renting a cottage on the beach. My favorite childhood memory is... every weekend was spent at baseball picnics and tournaments. My dad played on a country team every summer. He loved baseball, so, the whole family would go out to the baseball field on Sunday. My favorite spring pastime is... planting flowers and working outdoors. And going to my great-grandson’s baseball games! Something good I’ve read is.. “The Curse of the Bambino,” by Dan Shaughnessy. That’s the book about Babe Ruth being sold to the Yankees and the curse that followed. The Red Sox finally won last year. My pet peeve is... not enough hours in a day. If I won the lottery, I’d... pay off every one of my children’s houses. Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776. |
