Hughes fetes 80th at Cucuru

Dave Hughes, a retired military colonel, telecommunications pioneer and Westside leader for 30-plus years, will celebrate his 80th birthday Sunday, May 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. with friends and well-wishers at the Cucuru Gallery Cafe, 2332 W. Colorado Ave.        According to Hughes' son David, anyone who would like to drop by is welcome. Asked what will take place, he replied, “I would say Colonel Hughes will pontificate on local history, [and there will be] storytelling and a chance to say hello and thank you for his service to the Westside.” Westside Pioneer/press release
