Orientation date added for Rock Ledge volunteers

A second chance to volunteer at the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site will be offered Tuesday, April 5, at an orientation from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the ranch's Carriage House Education Center.
Bad weather hurt attendance at the initially scheduled orientations March 24 and 26, according to Cheryl Catalano, Rock Ledge lead interpreter. This prompted the scheduling of the additional session.
The orientation will explain what's involved with being a volunteer docent for the summer at Rock Ledge. Docents dress in late- 1800s clothing and work for a half-day once a week in any of the ranch's four interpretive areas - the 1860s homestead, 1880s working ranch and home, the 1907 country estate and the Heritage Shop.
Rock Ledge Ranch, an old-style working ranch in the Garden of the Gods, is coordinated by the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department. Volunteers are also assisted by the Living History Association, a “friends” group for the ranch.
