Ballot issues, council district candidates in election April 5

Depending on residency, the Westside's registered voters will be able to decide the District 1 City Council seat and six ballot issues, or just the ballot issues in the April 5 Colorado Springs election.
To vote for District 1 council - between incument Scott Hente and challenger Al Brody - Westsiders need to live in Pleasant Valley or north of Uintah Street.
For District 3 City Council (including the Westside area south of Uintah), incumbent Jerry Heimlicher is unopposed.
Hente, a retired Air Force officer, is a homebuilder who has been on council for two years.
Brody, also a retired Air Force officer, is a self-described “full-time volunteer.”
Heimlicher is a retired business executive who has been on council for two years. In the coming four years, he has previously stated in a Westside Pioneer interview, he plans to focus heavily on efforts to improve Colorado Springs tourism.
Descriptions of the six ballot issues, as well as the District 1 candidates' positions, can be seen in the adjoining article, which starts on Page 1.
Also being decided for the seven-member council in the election are the easterly Districts 2 and 4.
