Upgraded Bancroft restrooms get St. Pat’s test

For the first time in several years, the Bancroft Park restrooms will be open for St. Patrick's Day.
City Parks Maintenance Manager Kurt Schroeder said he made the decision based on the success of a recently installed tank that improves pressure to the toilets.
The Bancroft problem had been that water flow could not keep up with repeated flushes in both the men's and women's restrooms. As a result, City Parks had closed these facilities, located in the bandshell building, for major events such as the parade, which typically draws close to 30,000 people.
City crews installed the tank about a month ago and have been monitoring the situation since then, according to Schroeder. “We're hoping it will work,” he said. “It should be OK.”
