City Council candidate forums March 1 and 2

Public forums are scheduled March 1 and 2 for Colorado Springs City Council candidates.
On the Westside, both district seats (1 and 3) are up for election April 5. District 1 incumbent Scott Hente is being opposed by Al Brody. District 1 includes Pleasant Valley and other newer Westside areas north of Uintah Street.
Incumbent District 3 council member Jerry Heimlicher is running unopposed, but says he still plans to attend the forums. His district includes the older Westside south of Uintah.
The Council of Neighbors and Organizations (CONO) is sponsoring the March 1 event on the first floor (former council chambers) of the City Administra-tion Building, 30 S. Nevada Ave., at 7 p.m.
Written questions will be accepted from the audience as time allows, according to CONO President Jan Doran.
The Trails and Open Space Coalition will host its forum March 2 at 7 p.m. at the Colorado Springs Senior Center, 1514 North Hancock Ave. The candidates have been asked to provide their positions on trails, bikeways, open space, parks funding, Gold Camp Road, alternative modes of transportation and, if they use trails or open space, how they use them.
