Meet a Westsider:
Dixie Fields

Profession/Occupation... retired from business management. Last 32 years as general manager of Quality Furniture Rentals.

What I like most about the Westside is... the friendliness and attitudes of people who are “proud to be Westsiders.”

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... to get more assistance to fix up some of the older homes that are getting run down.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... that’s a hard question. I have not been impressed with movies made in the last few years. I would have to say, the “Last of the Dogmen.”

The worst advice I’ve ever gotten was... my ninth-grade counselor told me not to go into the field of interior design.

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Billy Graham.

The next time I travel, I’m going to... take a riverboat cruise.

My favorite childhood memory is... growing up and playing in Fountain Creek behind our house. We would swing across the creek on a rope hung from a tree. We really felt like Tarzan.

My favorite winter pastime is... scrapbooking – I’m making memory books for our 8 kids and our 17 grandchildren.

Something good I’ve read is.. “The Purpose Driven Life,” by Rick Warren.

My pet peeve is... negativity – people who never look for the positive.

If I won the lottery, I’d... be very shocked! I would like to help people who have such a struggle on fixed incomes and families who struggle with getting decent homes.

Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776.
