Humane Society offers discount certificates for Spay Day Feb. 22
The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) will present its 11th annual Spay Day Tuesday, Feb. 22 by offering
300 low-cost spay-neuter certificates to area residents. Certificate sales began this week, and will continue through Spay Day,
according to Ann Hagerty, the society's director of community resources.
“Although HSPPR is able to find homes for every adoptable pet in its care, pet overpopulation continues to be an issue in the community,” Hagerty said. The certificates are good for one month and may be used at one of 43 participating veterinary clinics in the area. Spay-neutering also provides health and behavioral benefits for pets, including an average three to five years longer lifespan, less risk of cancer, and generally less territoriality and other aggressiveness, Hagerty added. Certificates are available for purchase at the Humane Society, 610 Abbott Lane, from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekends. Certificate costs are as follows: cat neuter, $15; dog neuter, $25; cat spay, $30; dog spay, $35. For more information, call 473- 1741 or visit www.hsppr.org. From a press release |
