Meet a Westsider:
Marge Gilliom
Profession/Occupation...
retired from 20 years at Coronado High School as a paraprofessional and then a secretary.
What I like most about the Westside is... it’s a stable community with caring residents, Garden of the Gods, Rock Ledge Ranch and the mountain view. If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... We need some retail stores on 21st street and a movie theater. A good movie I’ve seen recently is... “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” with Richard Dreyfuss. It left a good impression on me. It’s one of those movies everyone should see. I'd like to discover... a cure for autism. If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Dr. Phil McGraw. I think he’s a smart man. He has a television show where he interviews people and helps them with their problems. The next time I travel, I’m going... Weslaco, Texas, where I will spend time with my sister and two brothers. My favorite childhood memory is... playing board and card games with family and friends and enjoying both listening to music and playing piano. My favorite winter pastime is... playing board and card games and working on puzzles. And I sing in the Village Voices choir year-round. Something good I’ve read is... “Angela’s Ashes,” on tape, read by Frank McCort, the author. This is a good book to listen to because once in a while, the author will stop reading to sing a song. My pet peeve is... drivers who don’t use turn signals. If I won the lottery I’d... build a facility for handicapped people and make a big donation to Special Olympics. Meet a Westsider” is a regular feature in the Westside Pioneer. If you would like to be a Meet-a-Westsider (or know someone who should be), please give us a call at 471-6776. |
