Heimlicher to take Bancroft battle to council

Colorado Springs City Council member Jerry Heimlicher, angry about the Bancroft summer Saturday situation, said he will bring the matter before City Council at its informal meeting Monday, Jan. 24.
He said he will seek a vote that could hopefully reverse a City Parks decision allowing a crafters corporation to rent the park for a profit on most summer Saturdays, based on a first-come, first-served policy which had the effect of denying three Westside- related non-profit fund-raising events.
He said he didn't know if it's too late to change the schedule this year, but “I can make sure it won't happen again... I'm going to make this a major issue.”
