Ellis to talk on early-days rail line

Westside history buff Don Ellis will present an Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS) program titled “The 'Short Line' Railroad” Friday, Jan. 14.
The program, free and open to the public, will begin at 11 a.m. at the Old Colorado City History Center, 1 South 24th Street. The OCCHS will open the center at 10 a.m. for coffee and a chance to visit the center's museum and bookstore.
Ellis' program will discuss the Short Line to Cripple Creek, a railway that carried gold ore from Cripple Creek to Colorado Springs between 1901 and 1922 and whose route later became Gold Camp Road.
