Purvis appointed to NLC chairman post
City Council Member-at-Large Randy Purvis has been appointed chairman of the Finance, Administration and Intergovernmental Relations (FAIR) Policy and
Advocacy Committee of the National League of Cities (NLC) in 2008.
The appointment of Purvis, a Westside resident, was announced this month by NLC President Cynthia McCollum, a council member in Madison, Ala.
The FAIR committee is one of NLC's seven standing committees that develops policy positions and advocates on behalf of NLC.
Policy amendments are brought before the entire NLC membership at the annual business meeting, held each year during the Congress of Cities. Once approved by the League's membership, the NLC National Municipal Policy serves as the basis for the League's advocacy on behalf of all local governments.
