Nature Center to bring back ‘Candlelight’

Supporters of the Bear Creek Nature Center are going to have to wait a year for the second Bear Creek by Candlelight
The event to celebrate Nature Center membership that had been scheduled Dec. 7 was cancelled this year. A combination of low advance signups and bad weather that day led to the decision, according to Todd Marts, the center director. He said he hopes to try again next December, but to make it free to prospective members instead of requiring membership payment beforehand.
The center, which is under El Paso County Parks, currently has about 150 members who provide financial support for programs through different levels of contributions that also give them benefits with the center. The membership program had been started in conjunction with the first Bear Creek by Candlight in 2006.
