Chuck Asay in History Center talk Jan. 10

Cartoonist Chuck Asay will show cartoons about the Westside and tell some of the stories behind them in a presentation at the Old Colorado City History Center Friday, Jan. 10 at 11 a.m.
The center is at 1 S. 24th St. Admission is $5 - free for members of the Old Colorado City Historical Society (OCCHS), which owns and operates the center.
A Westside resident since 1978 (living near Pioneer Park), Asay was the editorial cartoonist for the Colorado Springs Sun from 1978 to 1985 and the Gazette (Telegraph) from 1986 to 2007.
The talk will include a focus on his work in 1993. “It's amazing how many of the issues we face today were addressed back then... taxes, guns, diversity, education... We had different actors but the issues haven't changed,” a press release states. “Chuck hopes to inspire questions from the audience and discuss memories, controversies and blessings of the Westside community. Join us for this light-hearted program as Chuck integrates art with the issues.”
