‘Tree of hope’ to be trimmed at White Acres

It's beginning to look a lot like a White Acres Christmas.
People wanting to keep the property from being developed are planning to decorate a “tree of hope” Sunday, Dec. 21 at 3 p.m., outside the rented house on the 50- acre property at the northwest corner of Gold Camp Road and 26th Street.
The goal is to “honor the preservation of White Acres' natural and historic character and the White family's intent for this land,” a press release reads. “Friends, supporters and children of all ages are welcome.”
The property was donated several decades ago by the White family to Bethany Baptist Church for recreational uses. The church is seeking to sell the property for open space or to build houses on the property in partnership with Infinity Land Corp.
