Meet a Westsider:
Kirstin Gonyo

Profession/Occupation... Owner of Good Karma Coffee Lounge & Deli.

What I like most about the Westside is... the friendliness. Everyone seems to have a level of respect that goes unsurpassed. It’s a safe place to be.

If I could change anything about the Westside, it would be... the length of the stoplight on Walnut and Uintah during the day.

A good movie I’ve seen recently is... Nothing new, but the old ones on my shelf are goodies: “Tropic Thunder,” “Clerks,” and “Beerfest.”

I'd like to discover... my perfect getaway spot, since mine is off limits due to the Waldo Canyon fire.

If I could meet someone famous, I’d like to meet... Jack Johnson, musician/ songwriter. He gives me the peace I need! He’s a pro surfer turned musician. Native of Hawaii. His music is so relaxing and just seems to set my soul at ease when I listen to him. It may have something to do with the fact that I am also a musician (guitar and vocals), and our styles of playing are very similar.

The next time I travel, I’m going... Tahiti! Simply because, from what I’ve seen in magazines and movies, it should be just about as close to heaven as one could get.

My favorite childhood memory is... when I asked my mom where fireflies got their light. We were camping in Minnesota. She said they stole the sparks from campfires.

My favorite seasonal pastime is... It’s a toss up – summer days floating down the rivers in Minnesota and fall for viewing the spectacular colors.

Something good I’ve read is... “The Seat of the Soul,” by Gary Zukav. I read this book periodically, especially if I’m having an issue with something in my life. It seems like every time I read it, I notice something new that helps me through my troubled time. Even though it was there before, it didn’t pertain to the issue which needed resolving.

My pet peeve is... when people don’t know how to drive!

If I didn’t have to work for a year, I would... buy a hammock!
