Help with ‘Operation’ appreciated
Last month, an astounding 24,311 Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts were collected at drop-off sites in this area, and 2,322 of those were from Calvary Worship Center on the Westside! There was also a delightful “packing party” there Nov. 10, resulting in 660 shoebox gifts!
Samaritan's Purse, a ministry that also coordinated hundreds of volunteers to sift through the ashes of the Waldo Canyon fire, is the umbrella organization for Operation Christmas Child.
The simple shoebox gifts include small toys, hygiene items, school supplies and candy, and go to deeply needy children. The boxes from our region this year are going to the Phillipines, Mexico and Native American reservations in Arizona. Readers may still participate by going on-line to samaritanspurse.org/occ and clicking on “Build-a-Box.”
Thank you, Colorado Springs and Westsiders, for blessing less fortunate children around the world!
