Construction begins on new Cimarron bridge
After demolition of the old bridge in mid-November, “work is progressing on time on the Cimarron Bridge replacement,” a city press release states this week.
Caissons have been sunk into the ground as part of the bridge foundation; and work is underway on utility relocations, the west abutment and monuments and the southeast retaining wall, with the southwest retaining wall to start going up next week, according to the city.
The new bridge, which will be in similar in style to the Colorado Avenue bridge, is scheduled to open to four lanes of traffic in mid-May, with final completion in August.
While construction continues, Cimarron remains closed between the I-25 northbound on/off-ramps and Sierra Madre Street.
